Mpalis Rafael

Mr. Rafail Balis is an AI/ML Engineer, MarPoint Ltd specializing in the design and development of modern Artificial Intelligence systems. He currently works at MarPoint, a high-tech company in the maritime industry, where he builds production-grade solutions based on Deep Learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and Agentic AI systems to address real-world business challenges. He holds a Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Naval Science from the Hellenic Naval Academy, with a specialization in Electronics and Communications, as well as two Master’s degrees (MSc) in Information and Communication Systems from the University of the Aegean and in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science from the Athens University of Economics and Business, both completed with excellent academic performance.

He has a strong technical background in Python, SQL, Git, and AWS, along with extensive experience in Machine Learning and Deep Learning. His work focuses on GenAI applications, including RAG pipelines, agentic and multi-agent architectures, as well as conversational and voice-based AI agents. In parallel, he has served as Chief AI Officer at INSEAD Business School, within the MBA course “Building GenAI Products and Business”, where he guided teams in building end-to-end AI products, effectively bridging advanced AI technologies with business strategy.
